w0BDTY. Your "explanation" is possible context for the sentence in question, but it does not say what the sentence means in that context or any other. The given context tells us that "had" is meant to be subjunctive, so an alternative way to say the same thing is Had I studied hard, I would have passed the exam. In the given context, the sentence means that not studying hard caused the speaker not to pass the exam. This is context again, not an explanation of what the sentence might mean. The sentence does not say whether, at the time of speaking, the speaker has or has not passed the exam. I see multiple possible interpretations here, depending on whether "had" is indicative or subjunctive and on whether something like "be going to", "be willing to", or "be destined to" is meant to be included in the meaning of "would". Context again, not an explanation of meaning. The form "studied" does not tell us whether you mean "Were I to study hard" or "If I used to study hard" or something else. Are your "types of conditional sentences" meant to be ambiguous forms, or are they meant to be meanings?
